Pediatric Chiropractic

pediatricsWhy would my new-born, infant, toddler or child need chiropractic adjustments, you ask?  As was mentioned above, a pregnant mom who gets adjusted creates the best internal environment not just for herself but for her child. Once the child is born, it is equally important to create an optimal environment for the child outside of the womb. How is this environment created? By checking the new-born for any Vertebral Subluxations (bony misalignment interfering with nerve signals) that may occur from excessive intra-uterine constraint (stressful positions inside the womb) and even the birth process itself. This is especially critical if the labor was very long and intense, a vacuum extraction was done, lots of pulling or twisting of the baby’s neck , or any difficulty was experienced in getting the child through and out of the birth canal. If these subluxations exist, they can cause dysfunction within the baby’s nervous system, leading to future health problems. If these exist, chiropractic adjustments are warranted. Dr. Creech has examined dozens of newborns, and often finds that infants have 1 or 2 subluxations, but regardless, the entire spine and pelvis should always be checked. It is often unexplained why a new-born or infant has trouble sleeping, experiences colic, excessively cries, won’t eat well, gets ear infections, has allergies, respiratory problems, seizures, or exhibits other signs of poor health. These are all signs of nervous system distress, aka subluxations.  Your child may have vertebral subluxations and you as an innocent parent are not aware and neither is your pediatrician or medical doctor because they are not trained to look for or correct these spinal problems. Many parents see instant improvements in their child’s health and well-being with chiropractic.  Get your child checked by Dr. Creech today!

pediatricsRegular chiropractic check-ups are great to make sure normal spinal development is occurring and the child is growing healthy and strong. As an infant begins to sit upright, then crawl and later take its first steps, it is important to make sure their movement is smooth and uninterrupted. Being in proper alignment and having a healthy nervous system provides the child with the best chance to grow and develop optimally. Children have “weaker” immune systems because this system has not fully developed at a young age but it is NOT normal for your child to experience colds, ear infections or get sick easily or often. This is a sign of an irregularly weak immune system and one way to boost this systems efficiency is to remove any interference to the nervous system which science proves is very closely tied to immune function. Children between the ages of 1-5 often experience more slips, falls and accidents than they will the rest of their life combined. These repeated physical traumas are one of the most common causes of vertebral subluxations. Many experts believe that uncorrected spinal problems during early development and growth cause the chronic, difficult to correct subluxations seen in teenagers and adults. Regular chiropractic check-ups for infants, toddlers, children and teens are key for proper development, growth, maintenance of health and prevention of disease.

PLEASE NOTE: Many chiropractors care for pregnant women and children but few have additional training and expertise with these specific populations. Doctor Creech is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and successfully completed their post-graduate certification (CACCP) in October, 2011.  He also successfully completed the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) in November of 2002.  With these two post-graduate certifications, he is among only a few hundred in the U.S., and one of only 3 in N.C, with this level of expertise.

He has many hours of extra training, seminars and knowledge in working with pregnant moms, children and athletes young and old. Chiropractic adjustments given to pregnant women, infants and young children are extremely safe and gentle, and are NOT the same as those given to adults.
